You just can’t trust the BBC.
Two headlines, both from the BBC News website today, both published today, both conflicting. One reads “UK Universities slip down rankings” and the other reads “Universities hold world rankings”.
In fact both are true, because the BBC sees “England” as being the “UK” and demotes Scotland. The truth is that overall English universities have slipped down the world rankings but Scottish universities have held their place. In fact, despite the headline saying the universities position was “held” they have in fact rose up the ranking. Surely this is anti-scottish bias?
Shouldn’t the BBC be more careful about using gimmicky headlines to draw people into reading their news stories? The BBC News anchors used to be the epitome of good grammar, correct English and decent journalism. Now there is very little journalism on BBC News, it is mainly just “reporting” and they often use misleading headlines to draw you into a story, or to promote a BBC TV Programe.
